What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, non invasive energetic therapy that promotes healing at all levels by the nurturing energy radiating from the hands of the therapist. It supports the body's natural ability to heal itself by balancing and harmonizing the body's chi or energy. It adjusts itself according to the needs of the recipient and can be a wonderful, nurturing support in the journey towards healing.The word "Reiki" means universal life force energy. The techniques are more accurately called the Usui System of Natural Healing after the founder of the system Dr. Mikao Usui. There are three levels of attunement, One, Two and Master.

Q. Where does Reiki energy come from? A. Although Reiki energy is spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion. Practitioners are not asked to change any religious or spiritual beliefs they may have. They are free to continue believing anything they choose and are encouraged to make their own decisions concerning the nature of their religious practices. A. In a standard treatment Reiki energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs. Each position is held for three to ten minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position. The whole treatment usually lasts between 45 and 90 minutes. A. What one experiences during a Reiki treatment varies somewhat from person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. In addition, many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them. As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings a state of peace and well-being is experienced. Some drift off to sleep or report floating outside their bodies or have visions and other mystical experiences. At the end of the treatment, one feels refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook. Distance Reiki, also called absentee Reiki, is healing given to someone who is not actually physically present for the session. Transmission of Reiki energy is not limited by time and space. For example, if you live in San Francisco and are to receive a Reiki healing session from a Reiki practitioner in Boston, it can be accomplished without any effort on your part, just your permission to receive Reiki. The Reiki is sent by a method the Reiki practitioner receives during their Reiki training. The amazing thing is one can receive just as beneficial effects from a long distance absent session as from a direct hands-on session. It is said that Dr. Usui Reiki, who rediscovered Reiki, preferred to do absent Reiki sessions on his clients as he felt it was more powerful than hands on. It is for this reason an absent session is of shorter duration than a hands-on session and also costs less. The distance Reiki can work on the same issues that one would seek out from a hands-on Reiki practitioner. These would include pain, discomfort, depression and other emotional conditions, addictive behaviors and stress. Distance Reiki can be performed on your pets!
A. Reiki energy is a subtle energy. It is different than electricity or chemical energy or other kinds of physical energy. Reiki energy comes from the Higher Power, which exists on a higher dimension than the physical world we are familiar with. When viewed clairvoyantly, Reiki energy appears to come down from above and to enter the top of the practitioners head after which if flows through the body and out the hands. It appears to flow this way because of our perspective. However, the true source of Reiki energy is within ourselves. This does not mean that we use our personal energy when we do Reiki, but that the energy is coming from a transcendental part of ourselves that is connected to an infinite supply of healing energy.

Q. How is this possible?
A. As students of physics know, everything that exists is composed of energy
and moves through a universal energy field which is primarily composed of
light. Reiki works on each person’s own energy field to balance the flow
of energy between that person, the created universe, and God. The
interconnectedness of all things and the relativity of time and space are
part of the explanation. The other part is that Reiki comes from God,
who has no limitations.

A. Reiki has had a positive affect on all forms of illness and negative conditions. This includes minor things like head or stomach aches, bee stings, colds, flu, tension and anxiety as well as serious illness like heart disease, cancer, leukemia, etc. The side effects of regular medical treatments have also been reduced or eliminated. This includes the negative effects of chemotherapy, post operative pain and depression as well as improving the healing rate and reducing the time needed to stay in the hospital. Reiki always helps and in some cases people have experienced complete healings which have been confirmed by medical tests before and after the Reiki treatments. However, while some have experienced miracles, they cannot be guaranteed. Stress reduction with some improvement in ones physical and psychological condition are what most experience.
Again, I can perform distance Reiki. There is no reason why healing cannot be accomplished as effectively over a long distance as in person - Prayer is the simplest and most effective example of sending energy through the etheric field - It is not diminished by distance. A healer can sense the energetic field of the person requiring healing and can send them healing energy even though they are not in the same location as that person. As physics explores deeper layers of the structure of creation, phenomena are less and less localized and some physicists describe a "non-local" unified field to which we all belong.
